Here is the second part of common myths and facts about hair transplants, as a follow up to our previous article.
Myth 6: It’s a one-size-fits-all solution.
Fact: Hair transplant plans are customized based on individual needs. Main factors in selecting the proper solution are:
Degree of hair loss
Size of the hair loss area
Availability of donor
Hair type. e.g. straight or curly
Specific concerns of the patient
A consultation with a hair restoration expert determines the best approach for each patient. Transplant technique to be used, number of grafts to be transplanted and specific requests of the patient are all addressed at the pre-transplant meeting with the doctor.
Myth 7: Hair transplant costs are prohibitively high.
Fact: Hair transplant costs vary depending on several factors, but specialized clinics offer affordable options with natural-looking results. As there are better techniques developed and there are more experts, the cost has decreased significantly in recent years.
Thus, hair transplant is a very affordable treatment nowadays. Even taking travel expenses into account, Turkey is an advantageous destination for hair transplants.
Myth 8: It leaves a big scar on your scalp.
Fact: With advanced FUE and DHI techniques, donor taking does not leave a scar on your scalp. Older techniques like FUT leave scars at the donor area (back of head). We don’t perform FUT at all. Please consult your doctor about the technique being used and avoid FUT.
Myth 9: The transplanted hair will fall out permanently.
Fact: Transplanted hair comes from donor areas that are resistant to hair loss (usually the back of the head between 2 ears). With proper care after the transplant, long-lasting results are achieved.
Myth 10: Hair transplants provide instant results.
Fact: The full results of a hair transplant take some time. After the procedure, transplanted hair may shed (a normal part of the process), and new growth typically begins within 1 month, with full results visible in 6-12 months.
